A Night in Wonderland

Words really can not describe how awesome Saturday night was at Cine El Rey. As Geo was leaving to work this morning, we were still talking about how insane the light show was. I had a great time with some great friends. Of course I was not there as just a spectator but someone to document the activities that took place that night as well. I tried to think to myself how I could possible post a 30 picture blog from the shots I took and just could not cut the amount of pictures down. So I created a completely new setup at viewing the pictures.

Just click this beautiful picture and you can see the pictures from Saturday night!

Thee Armada, Asteria, Mechanical Boy....

Well the other weekend I was lucky enough to hang out with a lot of crazy bands. The DGE crew had a concert at the Incubator with Thee Armada, Asteria, Callahan, and Mechanical Boy. I would have to say that all the bands did an amazing job, of course afterward they all decided to stay the night at the house and hang out, it was good fun.

Here are some shots from the show....

And the morning after, as I told the guys bye....

Kidrobot Toys....

As I am getting ready to leave the house and go to another show and take pictures, I thought "hey I should post a blog of a picture I took last night." I was at Nowhere clothing yesterday, taking a look around and watching a movie in the back. I think I can speak for all business owners when I say that January is such a SLOW month. I have to literally think of things to keep myself busy. So while I was at the store I got a little bored and started to play with the Kidrobot toys, which I LOVE. I like to think of Kidrobot's brand in general of being for being like us big kids that I talked about in my last blog.

here's a shot of the little toys I played with....
nothing special, just a normal picture, but I like it.

down time = thinking time.

So as some of you know, I went to Harlingen for the week to regroup and relax. It was sort of my way to think things out. I know a few people that like to do drugs and go on trips and that somehow everything comes to them during that time. Well for me I don't do drugs, I always tend to come up with the best plans when I'm around my family. Its true, for some reason I just always get more done when my parents are near. I don't know if its the fact that they are my parents and I feel like a kid around them or its the fact that I just know that I don't have a single problem while I am at their house and can actually think about things. Either case, I spent the past few days there pondering on what I wanted Aberazzi to become this year, as I said in my last blog, there are just so many choices! I came to the conclusion that I will be trying to do alittle of everything. I really miss the art aspect of taking pictures. It use to be this thing I did for fun and to show people things that they had either never seen or always wanted to see just didn't have the knowledge of doing it. Well these days my photography has become pretty simple, I think I still make people happy but in a different way. I decided that for 2009 I will force myself to shoot a picture everyday, I don't care if its a picture of water, if its done right, it will be artistic and something beautiful. There is beauty in everything, and that is something I am going to have to retrain myself to think. I will of course still be doing my every day shooting of concerts, parties and what not but for the most part, I want to create art!

I got home today and Monica was over, I thought it was kind of funny how much of a kid she is, and its inspiring to me. It really is, she always tells me that when she was younger she wasn't into girly stuff and was very proper and now that she is older she's like this super big kid. I can totally see it, everytime I hang out with her she cracks me up. The same goes with Zar, he's the biggest kid I have ever met. We have cartoons, stuffed animals, board games and other crazy things in our house to prove it. BUT you know I love that about my friends and I am going to use that to make my photography something unique and fun.

here are some shots from today....
Monica making some dinner...yup its a panda hat.

here's her dinner, the meal of champions.

Here's a shot I took tonight, there's NO Photoshop to it.

Cool Door...

So I haven't really done any shooting this week, other than my project stuff that you can not see till the end of the month. I was trying to think to myself, what could I post that no one has seen and is fairly recent. I showed everyone the T.I. pictures, which were cool. Then there was the SHWAYZE concert pictures that apparently everyone loved. So I guess I could show you guys a shot I did for my buddy Issac, owner of Cine El Rey and Espana. Its not every day that I get a phone call to go over to someone's house and take a picture of them for a publication. I had a feeling 2009 would be a good year and so far its been pretty steady with shoots and new projects. This week however has been a little on the sit back and relax side. I decided early in the week that I would take myself away from McAllen and stay in Harlingen to visit my family and get a hold on what it is that I REALLY want my photography to become this year. Do I want it to continue with the music and events, maybe push more to the club nightlife, or try and really push the envelope and start creating some great fashionable images, OR do a 180 and go back to my roots and start doing abstract "art" photography. There are so many choices when it comes to photography and choosing the path that you want.

here's one of the shots I did for Issac, he has a really cool front door.

On a side note....
What are your 2009 New Year Resolutions?
Have you actually stuck with any of them?

What is your one goal to accomplish in 2009?

Shwayze's Return...

Wow, there's not much I can say about Saturday that would make you understand the crazy time that went down. The day as any other day started a bit slow with sleeping in, trying to get over a little bug I had. Then of course like most days that we are having shows on, I started to check all my camera gear and make sure I had all my batteries charges and equipment packed. I decided to take off early to the venue and hang out for awhile. Then of course took a few pictures of friends, opening acts, partying a bit in the green room with Shwayze, Cisco and friends. So far 2009 has been nothing but good times with friends and the best events....
