Flyleaf

This is a tad late but I was just so tired from the past few busy days, that I slacked off a little and took my time at getting to these images. Here are a few shots from the Flyleaf show that was SOLD OUT at Cine El Rey. Can you believe DGE, those guys had two sold out concerts in one week. We're in the works of doing something really cool for the All Time Low show, so if you want to be a part of a really cool photo shoot, be sure to make it out to that one!

The line went all the way around the block...

Zar and Geo working at the door...

Opening band "Stillborne"

Second opening band "Methmare"

Before Flyleaf went on stage, I snapped a few of you....

and FLYLEAF

I was only allowed to take picture for the first 3 songs and no flash. I found that kind of weird since everyone and their mother had cameras out the entire time and their flashes were going off like crazy! I didn't complain though, I've had worse conditions with taking pictures. I had plenty of time on my hand and was able to get a shot of Zar and Geo infront of the venue.

after the show, I went on Flyleaf's bus with Zar and his sister Carol.

After the show, Monikapolitan and I always have to wait around for Zar and Geo to finish everything up with business. So to kill the wait, I took these behind Cine El Rey, with just the light from the door and headlights from the car....I thought they came out cool...

after everything we went to Espana for some drinks...
there are some pictures, but those are to come later.

What just happened...

The title of this blog is how I felt this morning when I woke up. I do not even remember going to sleep. I went a whole day and night of not sleeping into my day full of Shwayze, it was intense. I can't say the day started because in reality I never woke up. It started with the VIP passes and then going to Nowhere to get ready for their in store signing...

The power went out and so it started outside...

FOR FULL GALLERY CHECK BACK, I just woke up...

Chilling on the bus with Shwayze, Cisco and Skeet.

Then there was the show....

THEN of course the after party at Shine....

there will be a FULL gallery set up tomorrow, right now I am just extremely busy with editing all the Shwayze pictures and of course getting ready for TONIGHT's concert, FLYLEAF at Cine El Rey.

Its going down TONIGHT....Shwayze with Cisco Adler and Tyga and I seriously can not wait. It starts at Nowhere at 5pm with the in store signing. Then goes to Cine El Rey in historic downtown McAllen for an amazing performance. After the concert, everyone will head on down the street to Shine for the offical after party. Its going to be an amazing day, I hope you got your tickets already because its going to be SOLD OUT! The VIP tickets actually sold out a long time ago and from what I've heard the general admission tickets will be selling out too.

Hope to see you at Nowhere, Cine El Rey and Shine!

Volleyball

I felt like my day was just uneventful and boring. So I tagged along with Zar to shoot a Volleyball game that he had to shoot for work. Needless to say, I realized need to brush up on my sports photography.

HDR

Well, I'd be the first to admit that I don't really know much about HDR and how to create one of those amazing images that you see on FlickR. I was out in Harlingen visiting my parents and thought with the free time I had that I should try to teach myself how to create an HDR image.

For those of you that don't know what HDR is, it stands for High Dynamic Range, which usually takes 3 or more pictures of the same thing at different exposures. Then you use a software in either photoshop or 3rd party to merge them and get the best tone and exposure for shadows and highlights.

here is my try at this....my parents house.

Ellen Von Unwerth...

Well, since I've been a little under the weather, I haven't been able to go out to all the clubs and shoot that much this weekend. I know some of you love to read these blogs and see what was going on from previous days and to you I am sorry. To the others that come to my blog to read or just look at pictures where here is a blog for you. I was surfing the web tonight looking at some work by some of my favorite photographers and a friend of mine was helping me do the same thing. We kind of were doing a random pop quiz at times. Asking each other the type of lighting or settings that were used to achieve a certain shot. Then my friend stumbled upon a picture by one of my favorite photographers, Ellen Von Unwerth. She sent it to me and was like "Abe, I didn't know you were in a shoot with Ellen Von Unwerth and Adriana Lima?!?". So I went to check this photo out and laughed and then thought, what a cool picture.

here's the picture, it made me laugh...

For those of you that don't know who Ellen Von Unwerth is I'll give you a little bio on her. Ellen is your typical Fashion Model turned photographer. She was a professional model for 10 years, while dating her photographer boyfriend. She decided to start snapping shots and other photographers she would shoot with saw her talent. When she decided to stop modeling she started to do shoots of her own and for ad campaigns. Most of her shots always show the female dominating and being sexy, yet strong. A way to always pick out an Ellen Von Unwerth shot is if its black and white with high grain and a little blurry and out of focus. Well at least her old work is like that. She use to use a manual focus camera with high speed film and would just shoot "off her hip". Just talking and interacting with the models, having them basically act out situations and she would just take pictures of the events going on. Another way to tell is that it usually has this vintage pin up feel to them too.

well anyways, sorry again to everyone that wanted to see a picture from me. I will go out and take tons of pictures this week for everyone.

Kave...

I had all the intentions of going out tonight to a place I had never gone and taking pictures of everyone. Sadly, I was not able to get ahold of my friend that promotes the place and I decided to not go. I have actually been fighting this little bug I have right now too. It started with a soar throat and well I ended up losing my voice and having some other cold like stuff. It doesn't help that all the nightclubs and bars in the area have crazy smokers and that really makes my throat worse. I slept all day today so that I could have some energy to go out tonight, Zar and Monica wanted to head to. Is is Kave like a Cave or Kave with an accented E, who knows! Well its the local neighborhood hot spot that is less than a mile away from my house. We usually get treated pretty amazing there and tonight was going good in till I was kind of hasseled about taking pictures. It got kind of weird, Zar and Monica could tell and we booked it after having one drink.

The only pictures I got were the first group of people I saw when I walked in.

These crazy ladies that kept bumping into me while dancing.

Zar and Monica giving me the look like its time to go.

and proof that Monica eats, at 2am.

This coming week is going to be amazing and I think there's a show every night! I will only be attending 3 of them though.
